In an elevated and private position on the wooded hillside skirting the charming village of Gavalohori, Villa Halepi commands panoramic views across the village and olive trees in the valley below to Souda Bay in the north and The White Mountains in the south. Part of Villa Halepi’s charm is the undoubtedly rural location that is within walking distance of the village centre that is not only picturesque and interesting, but also full of local life and character.
A 10 minute stroll to the village in the day enables you to stock up on all of the essentials including freshly baked bread, croissants, pies, and locally grown fruit and vegetables, whilst at night you can have a delicious and inexpensive meal under the local mulberry trees on the village square. The walk back to the villa is uphill but after a few glasses of local wine you probably won’t notice at all!
Wonderful sunsets can be seen from the villa, which has been cleverly designed so that all but one of the bedrooms, both of the living rooms, all of the balconies, terraces and the pool area benefit from the gorgeous views. The ground floor of the villa has a separate entrance and is a completely self-contained 2 bedroom apartment that is ideal for guests who are elderly or disabled.
Villa Halepi offers excellent flexibility of accommodation and is therefore a superb choice for larger parties, sharing families, or groups of friends who are looking to holiday together while still retaining the option of privacy and independence. Couples and smaller parties have also been taken into consideration with our low season prices which give them the option of renting the main 2 floors of the villa without the ground floor apartment (which would remain locked).
Nestled at the end of an unmade country track, behind a natural stone wall and a large gate, Villa Halepi is backed by a forest of pine trees. The ground falls away on 2 sides of Villa Halepi’s grounds, protecting the unspoilt views to the sea and the mountains, and ensuring the privacy of the guests.
The enclosed, landscaped grounds are adorned with flowerbeds and typically Mediterranean plants and trees that include geraniums, roses, mesenbryanthum, polygala, margarita daisies, olive, orange and pear trees. Creamy coloured local stone has been used for the walls, archways, and crazy paving on the extensive terraces which surround the villa. The pool area has sun-beds and umbrellas, and all of the terraces and balconies are equipped with outdoor furniture.
Recently built in contemporary style, the interior throughout is bright and well equipped with comfortable furnishings and eye-catching fabrics, and is perfectly suited to relaxed summer living. Occupying much of the middle floor of the villa, which is accessed either by a ramp from the large private parking area or via steps from the pool terrace, is a large L-shaped living room and kitchen.
Sliding doors open out from the living area to a covered dining terrace, and from the upstairs bedrooms to an open balcony, both of which look out over the entire area to the bay and mountains. All modern comforts have been provided at Villa Halepi, including free WIFI internet service, satellite TV’s, DVD players, 2 dishwashers and 2 washing machines, wood effect aluminium doors, windows, and shutters with mosquito screens, and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and the living rooms.
