If you walk out of this small port and turn left, a ten minute stroll along a single track road will bring you to Skliri, the forest and the "Alkyoni". This small taverna sits on the edge of the forest looking directly down into the sea. It was built in the early 1980's by Takis and Leo who still run it today. Alkyoni has its own pace and its chilled out atmosphere is to be taken in notice once setting foot on it. Attached to the taverna are 15 bedrooms and a number of private rooms in a two-storeyed building. At the heart of the taverna is Takis' kitchen. The restaurant is based on traditional greek cuisine, accompanied by turkish inspired dishes..
The kitchen is famous for its excellent food and people come from all over the island to eat here, even by boat from neighbouring Aegina. Passion for the Alkyoni is shared by so many different independent travellers. They come from Athens, other parts of Europe and indeed the rest of the world. They enjoy the hospitality of its hosts, Leo and Takis. They recognise that the taverna offers a peace and tranquillity that is now so often very difficult to find. A great Greek philosopher, Leo Thanopoulos, once wrote, about the Alkyoni, "One look and you're hooked!" We think he is right.
Alkyoni complex consists of 15 rooms, 5 family rooms and 10 singles or doubles.. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable and half look out over the crystal clear waters of the Saronic Gulf towards Aegina and Moni Island. The rest look back up into the pine-covered hills. All rooms have been refurnished at 2008.
Alkyoni 's restaurant, operating since 1982, has from time to time, attracted the attention of the press,(New York Times, Guardian, Athens Niews,Eleytherotypia,e.t.c.).
Alkyoni's menu is based on traditional greek cuisine. Fresh fish and turksish inspired dishes are Alkyoni' specialty. The set menu is accompanied by today’s specials.
Back at the taverna, Takis is always happy to cook the edible varieties of mushrooms (and to remind you that some varieties can be fatal).
Beaches
The taverna's location is perfect. If you wish, you can stay away from "the madding crowds". There are small coves to swim in, just a five-minute walk away, and if you want to stroll into the forest, a shady trail will lead you to Chalichada.
Chalikiada
Is probably the most stunning beach on the island,as well as, one of the first nudist beaches in Greece. Here, you will discover a huge, white shingle beach - its clear crystal waters alive with small coloured fish. Its sheltered location is an ideal place to relax, enjoy a good book or even paint .
Dragonera
You will find Dragonera between Milos and Limenaria; a steep path takes you down through the pines that stretch almost to the pebbled shoreline. It is a popular location for serious sun-worshippers and one of the best places on Agistri to see the sun set. You can hire sunbeds and buy refreshments during the summer months.
