The Story.Welcome to the Cottage Residence – a home away from home located in the established community of South Burlington among mature trees and tree lined streets. Burlington has been voted as one of the top two communities to live in, in Canada, and we are very proud to be part of the Burlington Community, and to be able to host Guests in the Cottage Residence. Our most recent guests, each an executive couple who resided in the home for 6 months each, said they were sad to leave and loved the location. The Cottage Residence is a wonderful home away from home for a week or longer term.
The Cottage Residence started out as small home for a family who “cottaged” in Burlington. Over the years, P. and J. lived in the home, and added to it creating a large and functional space that was lovingly maintained for almost 40 years. In early 2012, we purchased the property and dubbed it “The Cottage Residence” as it was seemingly perfect for the home. Our goal was to create a home where Executives could retreat to or families could vacation in comfortably and peacefully. We embarked on an extensive renovation that was professionally implemented with wiring and plumbing upgrades, all the flooring was changed to hardwood, porcelain tile (in the entry and kitchen), and limestone in the bathrooms.
New light fixtures were added (there were no ceiling fixtures), and custom cabinetry was installed in the kitchen and bathrooms. All new mill work and doors were installed along with two new gas burning fireplaces – one in the Living Room and one in the Lower Level. A new cedar deck was installed outside the kitchen and a new roof installed. The Cottage Residence has an alarm system that has flood sensors, motion detectors, and Carbon Monoxide Detectors, all monitored by a Central Monitoring Station.
The Cottage Residence is approximately 2300 sq. ft. and has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large Den/Office. There is a large Living Area with two sitting areas as well as a Dining area that seats 6-8 guests and a generous kitchen that is beautifully new and fully equipped.
