This typical house from Alentejo is located between the towns of Santiago do Cacém and Cercal do Alentejo, in the hamlet of Vale Seco. Although in a full countryside environment, it is less than 15 minutes drive from the beach of Porto Covo (17 km). From here on, and within few kilometres, you can choose between small beaches or long sandy ones. You can also do a guided visit to the island Ilha do Pessegueiro where one can see remains of the Roman era.The nearest towns are Santiago do Cacém (12 km) and Sines (25 km). Both offer visitors cultural sites, namely the ruins of a Roman town in Santiago do Cacém and the castle of Sines.
For those who enjoy walking, the recently inaugurated route known as Rota Vicentina is within easy reach. In Santiago do Cacém, Sines and Porto Côvo you will find good quality restaurants serving the region specialties. Closer to the property, at about 2 km, you will find two restaurants with countryside ambience. The nearest supermarket is in Santiago do Cacém, and 800 metres from the property you will find a countryside grocery store where you can buy bread and basic food items, as well as drink a coffee.It is 150 km from Lisbon airport and 165 km from Faro airport.
The house is the result of a careful restoration of a typical Alentejo country house, and attention was given in preserving the original architecture. It is a welcoming spot, with no luxury but all essentials available, where the countryside quietness rules. The inside furnishings also present some local handicraft details (ie. the bed heads in patches), furniture and other items related to the region traditions. The house comprises 3 bedrooms (1 double with ensuite shower room, 1 double with an extra single bed, 1 twin), living room with TV (Portuguese channels only), traditional fireplace and dining area, fully equipped kitchen and another shower room. Outside, one finds two shaded terraces, barbecue, private salt water swimming pool, garden and pool furniture and parking area, all within nature grounds.
