Known as Casa do Padre (Priest's House), the cottage is a two-storey stone building, typical of the traditional architecture of northern Portagal, and is located in a pleasant rural area, in the tiny village of Granja, 7 km away from Marco de Canaveses and the Douro river, and 18 km from Amarante. The place is an ideal base to one day trips to World Heritege Cities or Places like Oporto (56 km), Guimarães (50 km) and the Douro Valley.
The house, who has been renovated in 2010, has an area of 62 m². Upstairs are the kitchen and the living room in open space, and downstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The heating system is provided by a woodburner (firewood supplied) which rapidly heats the upstairs. The downstairs is heated by small electric heaters. Heritage in the Region of Marco de Canaveses

There are 99 sites of architectural interest inventoried in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses: chapels, churches, monasteries, bridges and civil architecture, The archaeological remains of the area show that, over an extended environment, this territory was an important prehistoric occupation that highlights the important collection of megalithic art of Sierra Aboboreira (Baião). In Roman times, very near this place was located Tongobriga.
